May 2022

Take some time out to enjoy the Autumnal Display, nature is showing off.

May speeds by, in the Upper Hunter, at a very fast rate. No sooner are children back at school after the Easter break and Anzac Day and life gets busier preparing for the many events during the Scone Horse Festival.

I have in years past, noticed the Upper Hunter weather temperatures plummet in May. Although with the rain falling in the past few days, we have had what my dear old aunt would say is “Soft Weather Days”.  This is when the bug population seem to explode.  So, take some time out to check out the plants in your patch and the number of bugs!

The second Sunday in May is of course Mother’s Day! I love to take some time to think about all the positive moments the many mothers I know bring to my life.

It’s time cut back dead foliage and stems of Dahlias prior to lifting and storing the tubers (from frost).

Give your lawns a liquid fertilise to green up before the winter.

Don’t forget to plant your spring flowering bulbs!
