June 2021

Winter has come!!! Thankfully not The Game of Thrones version of winter!! I have made two decisions at the end of May. I am going to become a Hoya collector and I’m going to splash out and buy some protective cover for my shade house at home to house my new and up and coming Hoya collection. All of my aunts had wonderful flowering Hoyas. So, watch this space!

I recently spent a week in Mount Gambier, South Australia, visiting my family. I haven’t seen my Mumma for two years. Many people have been in the same situation. Poor Victorians are in lockdown again!!

Not only was it great to catch up with family but the weather was unusually fabulous! A long time again I spent my formative nursing career in Mount Gambier. The weather was very like Melbourne weather. Four seasons in a day. Bitterly cold in winter and rainy and wind-blown in summer. I have never ever before experienced such warm sunny days in the South East of South Australia. Is this living in times of Climate Change? What do you think?

Exciting news on Main St is Laura Hall has arrived a couple of doors up from us with Phylli Designs. Drop in and have a look next time you’re visiting Plants On Main.

Next Thursday I’m spending a day at Scone CLC with a potting up group. This is a free course. Have a look at our Facebook or Instagram page for information on how to join in the fun!

Other news from Plants On Main is we will run an end of financial year sale with 20% off from Friday 11th June through to Sunday the 27th June. (Plants On Main will be closed on Sunday 20th due to a power outage, Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th due to Stocktake.

If you bring in the article from the Aberdeen Whisper you will receive an additional 5% off.

Keep warm doing winter gardening chores!
